4 Mistakes Christians Make

Do you ever wonder what you may be doing wrong in your faith? Well, here are four common mistakes that Christians can make and how we should address them.

Giving up on Prayer,

#Guilty, I've given up on talking to God more times than I can count. The idea can be so overwhelming or sometimes even underwhelming when you're struggling with believing that God doesn't care or has a different plan for you than you originally wanted. I encourage you to keep praying through the valley, if only to talk to a friend and vent. A good listening ear is something that God definitely has and part of the beauty of prayer is that you don't have to expect anything in return, but you somehow always get something anyways.

Working without Faith,

Working without faith is something everyone is guilty of, we go through the motion, go to church on Sunday, pray, and read our bibles, but sometimes it just doesn't register that we're supposed to apply our faith in our works and drive ourselves to open up to God while doing so. A good way to practice faith with works is to earnestly pray for it, God has already changed our hearts for him, there's no reason why he can't increase our faith in him and his blessings too.

Judging Sin Differently,

While we're called to lead people out of sin, it can seem like we view ourselves as better than the person dealing with sin that looks different from ours. While sin has different degrees of consequences, they all have the same degree of mercy and grace given to them by God, and as Christians we need to practice that Grace and Mercy like Christ would have. A way to do this is to take a step back and blindly love a person through their struggles instead of try and show them how much better your sin is than theirs.

Prayer without Faith,

Prayer without faith is a lot like works without faith except prayer isn't to show how we've been turned to God through Christ, instead it's to talk to the God of the Universe. An almighty Gid who craves to hear from us and wants to spend moments that bother or excite us with him. Prayer without faith is to completely ignore God's presence entirely since it takes faith to even consider God let alone talk to him. A tip to avoid losing faith in prayer is to write out God's goodness in your life before you pray to remind you of his faithfulness in life and to remind you of his presence. This for me is a good way to stabilize the fullness of God and the faith in him I've had in the past and how he's provided in that faithful time.
